Kevin Owens reportedly suffered an injury at a recent WWE live event, leaving his status for Survivor Series uncertain.
This opens the door for many superstars in the locker room to rise to the occasion and take advantage of the opportunity. In the past, we’ve seen one superstar’s injury sidestep another star, a la Kofi Kingston in 2019. Could Survivor Series be the night Roman Reigns is pinned for the first time since 2019?
Assuming the remaining slots are filled by Drew McIntyre, Sheamus and The Brawling Brutes as teased on WWE SmackDown, let’s take a look at the five Superstars who could be the final members for the Wargames match.
#6. Bray Wyatt handed the Tyrant Champion his first loss in 3 years
A Wyatt and Reigns face-off at Survivor Series: WarGames will rock the WWE Universe.
His first storyline appears to be with LA Knight as teased on SmackDown, though the event is yet to officially kickstart. Wyatt could be a surprise final member of the team against The Bloodline and even pin the WWE Universal Champion – a possible harbinger of the not-too-distant future.
This can also be a one-off; Wyatt could then resume his program with Knight on television.
#5. A doctrine applied to the tribal chief
This is a Superstar that this writer was not interested in until his recent failed cash-in attempt on the US Champ.
Austin Theory showed a more sinister side this week on WWE Raw, and it’s fair to say he owned the Tribal Chief with the line “Your daddy ain’t here anymore.”
Should Theory be the final member against The Bloodline, he doesn’t need to pin the WWE Universal Champion. The performance alone is enough to propel his young career.
#4. Spotlight on the WWE NXT Champion
We all know that NXT has been Triple H’s pet project since its inception. The last time NXT Superstars were highlighted on the main show was at Survivor Series 2019.
Braun Breaker is one of the most promising superstars on the roster. With a little more than a year behind him, he’s already a two-time NXT Champion and a future world champion on the main roster. Having him appear as the final member could make for a great story. His hard hitting style also matches well with Drew McIntyre and Sheamus.
#3. A night to prove for the Herald of Doomsday
Karrion Kross gained a lot of momentum when he returned to WWE in August. However, since then he has received very little response from the WWE Universe.
Carrion Cross and Scarlett could prove something in time for Survivor Series. Coming off a feud with Drew McIntyre, the pair would make great television as they are forced to team up to take on a common enemy.
#2. Matt Riddle renewed his feud with The Bloodline
Riddle has been floating in the background since Extreme Rules, where he defeated Seth Rollins in a fight pit match. His most significant conflict with The Visionary was against The Bloodline.
Going up against them with other former rivals of the Tribal Chief seems like a logical next step, hopefully meaning he’ll be presented as a more serious character going forward.
#1. Some losses you can never let go of
Roman Reigns and Seth Rollins were an underrated classic at the Royal Rumble this year – a rare instance where a disqualification finish seemed like the best outcome for the story.
With their storied history, Seth Rollins could be the last member of the team, setting the stage for a future match between the two. The architect who finally dethroned the Universal Champion could very well be. That would be poetic.
