Warzone and Modern Warfare players are getting ‘dev error 5476’ preventing them from joining matches and here’s how you can get around this problem.
Error messages interrupting your game can be extremely frustrating, and Warzone Pacific players have encountered Error 47 and Error Code 48 throughout the game’s history.
The ‘dev error 5476’ code is an issue that prevents players from enjoying Warzone and Modern Warfare. There has been an increase in players experiencing this error since the arrival of the Season 4 Reloaded update.
Fortunately, there are some ways to solve this problem.
How to Fix Dev Error 5476 in Warzone and Modern Warfare
Dev error 5476 code can pop up for many different reasons while playing Warzone or Modern Warfare. This has been reported to occur when players randomly set their calling cards or symbols.
Other times, this error code is the result of corrupted game files or a crossplay matchmaking issue. We will go through the various solutions you can use to fix dev error 5476 in both games.
Check for updates/reset your console
Sometimes this error can be fixed by waiting for a new update. Your device should automatically notify you if one is available for download, but that’s only possible if your internet connection is working.
Check your connection and try resetting your internet device if you suspect it is not working properly. You can also reset your gaming platform to see if it reconnects to your WiFi.
Here’s how you can hard restart an Xbox console:
- Hold down the power button until the Xbox turns off completely
- Release the power button
- Disconnect the power cable
- Wait five minutes
- Plug the power cable back in
- Turn your Xbox back on
If you’re using PlayStation, the process is very simple:
- Hold down the power button for 5 seconds until the PlayStation turns off completely
- Wait a few seconds
- Press and hold the Power button until the PlayStation turns back on
Make your calling card and emblem quirky
One solution that has worked in the past is to change your calling card and symbol so that they are no longer set to “random”.
Here’s what you need to do:
- Log in to the game
- Go to the Barracks tab
- Check if your icon is set to “random”, then change it to “all together” or any other category
- Also change your calling card if it is set to “Random”.
Once that’s done, go back to the lobby and you’ll be able to join the game without seeing the error message.
Verify Warzone and Modern Warfare game files
If the problem is caused by missing or corrupted game data on your PC, you can try verifying the game files and see if that fixes the problem.
Here’s how you can repair game files on PC:
- Access the Blizzard battle.net app
- Click on the Warzone icon
- Select the gear icon and click “Scan and Repair”.
You will have to wait while the game files are scanned and verified. If you find any missing or corrupted game files, you need to reinstall the game.
Reinstall Warzone and Modern Warfare
If the problem still persists, you can try uninstalling and reinstalling the game from the online store. This solution is the least attractive because you have to wait a long time while the game is downloading again.
Here’s what you need to do:
- Uninstall the game
- Enter the online store
- Discover Warzone and Modern Warfare
- Once you reach the game page, select ‘Download’
Once the game is finished downloading, return to multiplayer mode and see if it works properly. Hopefully, one of these solutions will work to get rid of the error message.
