First up, Warner Bros. Home Entertainment has just officially set Tobe Hooper’s Poltergeist (1982) to release on the format on 9/20 for the film’s 40th anniversary. The 4K will be available in both regular Immortal and Best Buy-exclusive Steelbook packaging. Legacy Extras will be included Here they are: The Real World of Poltergeists documentary, The Making of Poltergeist Feature and Theatrical Trailers.

WB will also release Joel Schumacher The Lost Boys (1987) on 4K Ultra HD on the same day, marking its 35th anniversary. Legacy features will include an audio commentary by director Joel Schumacher, Lost Children: A Retrospective4-part Inside the vampire’s lair Documentary, 2 featurettes (incl Vamping Out: The Undead Creations of Greg Cannum And Hamster and Feldog: The Story of the 2 Cory), the The world of vampires interactive map, The Lost ScenesLou Grams Lost in the shadows Music video and movie trailer.

Also coming to Blu-ray and 4K Ultra HD on 10/11 from Warner Bros. are a pair of new animated titles: DC League of Super-Pets And Mortal Kombat Legends: Snow Blind.

And it looks like Warner is leaving slimmed-down Middle-earth 6-movie collection 4K UHD box set for 9/20 at least internationally. This appears to be a more basic version from last year 31-disc collection The 4K box set is in more traditional packaging, but we don’t have any official details at the moment. Meanwhile, Disney and Pixar have just announced Blu-ray, DVD and 4K Ultra HD CG-animated releases. light years On 9/13. Digital release expected on 8/3. Extras will include a trio of behind-the-scenes featurettes with director Angus McLane, writer Jason Headley and director of photography Jeremy Lasky, 6 deleted scenes (including a director’s introduction).Creating a world of light years, Zap PatrolAnd Toytic). Note that the 4K UHD SKU will include Dolby Atmos audio, while the Blu-ray will have 7.1 DTS-HD Master Audio. You can check out the cover artwork below.

Sony is reissuing Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, of the gut, The ultimate action hero, Zombieland, Zombieland: Double Tap, Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle, Jumanji: The Next Level, poison, Venom: There Be CarnageAnd Spider-Man: No Way Home 9/27 in 4K Steelbook packaging. All of these are branded as “Limited Edition Reprints”.

Not done yet… Retail sources inform us that Universal is working on several good catalog 4K Ultra HD titles for release later this year. We have already mentioned Monty Python’s Meaning of Life (due 9/12), To kill a mockingbird (due 10/11), and 8 miles (due 11/8), but the studio is also working on a new one ET: The Extra-Terrestrial – 40th Anniversary Edition For release on 10/18.

What’s more, Universal is expected to make a new announcement Universal Classic Monsters: Icons of Horror Collection – Volume 2 Box set for release on 10/11 in 4K Ultra HD, which will include four more films in the series. We don’t have official confirmation of specific titles, but we believe they are mummy (1932), Bride of Frankenstein (1935), Phantom of the Opera (1943), and Animals in the Black Lagoon (1954). The much-awaited 4K UHD singles of the four films from the first box set will also arrive on the same day, Dracula (1931), Frankenstein (1931), invisible man (1933), and wolf man (1941). It was previously only released in the US as a Best Buy-exclusive steelbook.

Minor sources are also reports of John Almond War games (1983) is coming to 4K Ultra HD this year, with a tentative street date of 12/6, and we’ve confirmed it’s a hoot! Factory title licensed from MGM. It should be good and have Dolby Vision HDR.

And Kino Lorber Studio Classics has just announced that they are working on a 4K Ultra HD release of Frank Oz. score (2001). It’s “coming soon” and will include a new Dolby Vision HDR grade approved by cinematographer Rob Hahn.

Also, today on the standard Blu-ray front, MVD Entertainment Group revealed a new one MVD Rewind Collection Titled for release on 10/25… by James Foley At close range (1986). The film stars Sean Penn and Christopher Walken in lead roles.

Finally, we have to take a moment to acknowledge the passing of a couple of actors over the past few days…

Paul Sorvino Was famous for his role in (83). GoodfellasBut additional scenes are included Dick Tracy, Rocketeer, Oh God! And much more. He also starred in the early seasons of TV Law and order. You can read more here NY Times And here deadline.

And David Warner (80) was a prolific actor in theater and film, including appearances on the big screen an omen, Day after day passed, Tron, Time bandit, A man with two brains, Titanic, Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country, Planet of the Apes (2001), and Mary Poppins Returns. Both will be missed.
