A lot of new details about Xenoblade Chronicles 3 have been revealed as part of the exclusive Nintendo Direct. From the main characters of the six characters to their fighting abilities and the world in which they live, here is what we learned today.

Xenoblade Chronicles 3 – The main characters

Xenoblade Chronicles 3 is set in a world ravaged by conflict between two nations; Agnes and Caves. The six main characters are initially two opposing sides of this conflict, but soon realize that their fate is shared and must work together to defeat the real enemy.

The first party includes the following: Noah, a brave off-seer; Brush and Blunt Uni; And Lanz, a fierce brawler. His early opponents are the kind and compassionate Mio; Supernatural intelligence war strategy, Taion; And the army, a small man with tremendous strength.

Once joined, the six fight as a whole party in a sword march, trying to reach the land pierced with a huge stone sword.

Along with these main characters is a roster of heroes, who serve as the seventh member of your party. You can recruit a large number of heroes, but only one can ever be in your favor. Ashera, Valdi, Riku and Manana, Fiona, Alexandria and Gray were among the many that were shown in Direct. Some details were offered about what they contribute, but the heroes have their own characteristics. For example, Valdi is a War Medic, while Alexandria is an anchor who can deliver more serious hits.

Xenoblade Chronicles 3 – Battle systems and classes

The characters in Xenoblade Chronicles 3 fit into all the classic RPG class Trinity: Invaders, Defenders and Healers. But there are more specific classes in those broad categories. Examples offered by Direct include Swordfighter, a balanced attacker who leads the fight; Zephyr, a defense specialist who can withstand and repel enemy attacks; Medic Gunner, which can restore friends and strengthen range capabilities; The technician, who disperses enemies and supports friends with a paper talisman; Heavy guards, who use huge weapons to defend allies and repel aggression; And ogre, which can crush the enemy’s defenses.

Each character can switch between classes, and it is recommended to learn multiple classes to allow a better team for each character in the party.

Classes allow characters to use art; Special capabilities mapped to the switch’s face button. Combining art creates combos, and fits into a system in which you smash and knock down enemies before releasing them into the air and then knocking them down to the ground. One definite way to destroy enemies is to attack with a chain together.

Fusion Arts takes that system to the next level, allowing you to combine two different arts into one attack.

The combat system of Xenoblade Chronicles 3 is real-time and you can switch between party members freely at any time. So far, at least from the footage in Direct, it looks like a beautiful and fun system.

Xenoblade Chronicles 3 – Ouroboros Interlinking

Direct’s best revelation is interlinking; Ability to combine two party members into an Evangelian-like make / animal / object called Euroboros. Specific pairs of characters are capable of doing this, and depending on which character is chosen as the dominant mind in the pair, Oroboros’ abilities can vary. Because of this, you have to choose the right ‘pilot’ for the task. Interlinking is only a temporary agreement, so you have to take full advantage of your Ouroboros before the timer expires, but they can join chain attacks to create extremely harmful combos.

Xenoblade Chronicles 3 – Extension Pass and Collector’s Edition

Direct also announced an extension pass, priced at 29.99 / £ 26.99. Includes a new story to be released by the end of 2023. At launch, the pass will add “useful items” and costume color types. By the end of 2022, new challenging battles, new heroes and quests and new costumes will also be added. And by the end of April 2023, another new challenging battle, Heroes, Quests and Outfits, is promised.

When the Xenoblade Chronicles 3 launches on July 29, the collector’s version that came with the art book and steelbook case will be available. This is exclusive to the My Nintendo Store, so keep an eye on the website for pre-orders.

Xenoblade Chronicles 3 was announced earlier this year in February 2022 at Nintendo Direct. This is a sequel to the well-known Xenoblade Chronicles 2, and while it is set in the future of the world as depicted in the previous game, it has a new cast and story.
