While the PS4 is undoubtedly covered by Sony’s more powerful PlayStation 5 console, it is still one of the most influential modern libraries in gaming.

Since 2013, the PlayStation 4 has gradually brought together many special games by first-party publishers, as well as some other titles that make the best use of hardware.

If you already have a PS4 but are considering upgrading (when you can get your hands on the console, that is), the good news is that all those older games will be playable on the new system.

And, if you have a PlayStation Plus subscription, you’ll also have access to many of the PS4’s classic titles on the new console. Many of them are featured in our list below.

The upcoming PS Plus three-tier service will also give players access to hundreds of titles from Sony’s extensive catalog, so we can expect to see plenty of PS4 classics in the new service as well.

Our list of the best PS4 games is based on the life experiences of the PS4. Although some of these games have seen sequels, remasters or other follow-ups, we believe that these titles represent the best that the PS4 has to offer. We also consider some of these games on PS4 hardware optimization and if this is the best version of the game compared to other formats.
