There are plenty of reasons to go to Butlin this year and ARRON HENDY gives you seven of his favorites after an unforgettable trip to Bognor with his family.

Swimming pool

It’s been a few years since a new ¬£ 40 million pool was opened with slides, rapids, wave machines and the world’s first helter skelter water ride. But splash complexes still seem new. We loved the rapids the most, especially at the evening pool party. It was beautiful to swim in the moonlight and watch Butlin lights flashing in the distance. It was also fun to use inflatables to join the water ride with the kids.

Table service and food

It’s a simple thing but a real plus. Standing in line at a bar can be really annoying, let’s face it. I’ve always wondered why you don’t do it like the French, whose orders are taken from the table. If you pay, why do all the work properly? It was great to use Butlin’s app to order drinks. There was enough excitement to join in so it was a great opportunity to come back and relax. Especially the big new entertainment venues where we saw the Platinum Queen. Once the Beats of We’re the Champions started, I didn’t sit still for long. It takes us well

At the new location we also saw Sam and Mark off the tele. He hosted his own TV style game show with the families spending the holiday on stage and it was fun. The Reds had Butlin’s panto and many great musical performances. Other battalion performances at this year’s event include Flair East, Stephen Mulharn, Justin Fletcher, Dick and Dom, Peppa Pig and PJ Mask.

Wave Hotel has a wow factor. It is spacious and the view from our balcony across the English Channel is breathtaking. You can see below all the people who go to Butlin’s Skyline Pavilion.

My kids especially liked the way the room service turned towels into animals.

There was a game room with PlayStations and other consoles. I enjoyed FIFA with another father while we were “taking care of the kids” at a tea party.

They have a spa at the Ocean Hotel. My wife and daughter loved it. They told me all about the hydrotherapy pool, the crystal steam room, the sauna, the snow cave, the outside of the hot tub, the disco shower and the foot spa. They loved the view of the hot tub in the package.

The Argus: Climb to Butlin in Bognor

We had a lot of fun in the activities that really sat in our minds. Butlin’s recollection was fantastic. Specifically, for me, it was a laser tag. I think it rekindled my childhood love of playing war games and guns with my friends, but on a new level. We were given smart looking machine guns and headwear that would record the hits you took. Too much, we were told and we would have to run to the reset station before we could rejoin. Computers will record who gets the most hits. We were divided into teams and we hid in the playground, set up neatly with camouflage. We left and I ran to get my prey. I didn’t care if they were adults or children, all of a sudden everyone with my own kids was a fair play. The sandy floor meant you could race and jump. I went into full Rambo mode.

The final game was the funniest – the last man, woman or child stood up. Gratefully the young men picked up the adults and left them to fight.

We actually had an active vacation.

My son loved climbing walls and ropes.

We all went into archery and had a lot of fun. It was created by Butlin’s mentor with family competitions.

Butlin’s rides are great. Sometimes a little scary when you reach a certain age. But they’re fine as long as you don’t go straight after dinner. Most rides are included as part of the holiday. So the hour is more exciting.

Butlin has such variety that your stay will be a rollercoaster ride. A mixture of great joy, food and entertainment. It is a real joy to spend time together as a family. Turn off our phones, talk to each other and have fun. You will find the busiest detox. And it’s right at our door.
